Qizhi Tang

Qizhi Tang attended Peking Union Medical College in Beijing China before pursuing her graduate studies in the United States. She studied viral immunology for her PhD thesis at University of Illinois, Chicago and conducted her postdoctoral research on immune tolerance at the University of Chicago and University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She has been an independent investigator and director of the UCSF transplantation Research Lab in the Department of Surgery since 2007. Her research interests and expertise are in regulatory T cell biology in the context of type 1 diabetes and transplantation. One of the main focus in the Tang laboratory is to develop regulatory T cell therapy for inducing immune tolerance in the settings of autoimmune diseases and transplantation.
