Ronald Sluyter
Prof. Ronald Sluyter, PhD (USyd), BAppSc (Hons) (UTS), is a Professor in Molecular Horizons and the School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience at the University of Wollongong (UOW), and Head of the Immunology and Cell Signalling Group in the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI), Wollongong. Prof. Sluyter is an international expert in purinergic signalling and Co-President of the Australian and New Zealand Purine Club. His group primarily investigates the roles of the P2X7 receptor and other purinergic signalling pathways in human and companion animal health and disease. This research includes the study of purinergic signalling in inflammation, immunity and coagulation, and diseases such as graft-versus-host disease, leukaemia and blood disorders, and head and neck cancer. Prof. Sluyter has published over 120 publications including five book chapters and ten review articles.
